Osteopathy — the whole-body view, by a London-trained doctor.

Whole-system manual therapy that treats the musculoskeletal system as connected, not regional. Delivered by Dr. Marcus Bernini, Doctor of Osteopathy (London School of Osteopathy, 2007). Particularly valuable for complex, multi-region presentations.

What it is

Osteopathy is a system of manual medicine that treats the musculoskeletal system as an integrated whole — recognising that a problem in one region often produces compensations elsewhere. Our osteopathic practice is led by Dr. Marcus Bernini, who trained at the London School of Osteopathy.

How it works

Osteopathic treatment combines joint mobilisation, soft tissue work, myofascial release, and visceral techniques where indicated. Every session begins with a fresh assessment of the connected kinetic chain.

Who it is for

  • Complex multi-region pain
  • Sports injury
  • Post-injury recovery
  • Chronic musculoskeletal cases that have not responded to single-region treatment

Where this service fits

  • Osteopathy is one component of the broader Functional Correction Method — used in isolation only where a multi-modal plan is not clinically indicated.
  • Each session is preceded by a brief reassessment so the treatment evolves with the patient.
  • If this modality is not the right fit for your condition, we will say so at the first consultation.

While both osteopaths and chiropractors work with the musculoskeletal system, osteopaths take a broader whole-body approach that considers how structural issues may affect all body systems, including digestion, circulation, and respiration. Chiropractors focus primarily on the spine, joints, and muscles. At Elite Spine Centres, we offer both disciplines and can recommend the approach that best suits your needs.

Most patients find osteopathic treatment comfortable. Some techniques may cause brief discomfort, particularly when working with tender or restricted areas, but your osteopath will always work within your tolerance level and adjust techniques as needed. Many people find the treatment relaxing.

The number of sessions varies depending on your condition, how long you have had it, and how your body responds to treatment. Acute injuries often improve within a few sessions, while chronic conditions typically require more sessions over a longer period. Your osteopath will discuss realistic expectations during your consultation.

Yes. While many people seek osteopathy for pain relief, the holistic approach can support various health concerns including digestive issues, respiratory problems, headaches, stress-related tension, and general wellness. Your osteopath can discuss whether osteopathy is appropriate for your specific condition.

Yes, osteopathy is generally safe during pregnancy and can be very helpful for managing pregnancy-related discomfort. Our osteopaths are trained to use techniques appropriate for pregnant women and will modify treatment to ensure your safety and comfort throughout all stages of pregnancy.
